Join ECTA board member Deb Hamilton on a guided hour's walk that will begin in the front yard at 227 Middle Street, West Newbury, MA 01985 and will continue through the naturalized gardens there, including a magnolia allee', across the headwaters of Kelly Brook and onto the Cawley Parcel, a 22 acre Greenbelt-owned property with a trail link out to Indian Hill Street, and back. In addition to blooming magnolias, we should also see other early spring ephemerals--trout lilies, bloodroot violets, mayapples, bluets, skunk cabbage, wood anemones--as well as 8 varieties of ferns, plus the early blooming spring bulbs, trees and shrubs in the Hamiltons' yard. Birders may be treated to 40+ turkeys, hawks, owls, and other resident and migrating songbirds. Long pants and sturdy shoes are recommended.
