Members receive an identifying ECTA membership card along with 2 decals for their car and for their horse trailer (if appropriate) regular e-newsletters, bi-annual newsletters, important trail condition notices, landowner property usage notes and notifications of up coming events. Full-size folding area trail maps may be obtained on request, for trails in Hamilton, Wenham, Topsfield, West Newbury and Ipswich for $6 each. See our Trail Maps page. These maps show all publicly accessible trails.  Trail information is also kept up-to-date on this website.

Events
Members receive $10 off all ECTA events. ECTA holds many events each year including our annual Spring for the Trails 1/2 marathon, Run for the Trails 5 & 10 mile trail run, Thanks for the Trails 5k, Equine Tack Sale, summer TrifECTA Trail Challenge, and several guided horse trail rides and winter cross country outings.

Trail Cards
Many landowners require that trail users who walk or ride across their lands are current members of ECTA.  Upon joining or renewing, you will be sent ECTA trail card(s) with effective dates in order for you to identify yourself as a member to such a landowner.  We no longer provide equestrian bridle/saddle tags.

Appleton Farms – Trustees of Reservations (TTOR)

ECTA members who wish to use Appleton Farms trails must follow the Trustees of Reservations rules. Equestrians are welcome to ride on the Appleton Farms beautiful trails, but are REQUIRED to join TTOR.  NOTE:  TTOR no longer has the Green Horses or Green Dogs programs. 

Myopia Hunt Club

The trails are only open to horseback riders who are current members of the Essex County Trail Association. The Myopia Hunt Club Trails are not open to bikers, joggers, walkers, cross-country skiers, baby carriages, or motorized vehicles. Only walking and trotting are permitted on the bridle trails along the Myopia Golf Course. Elsewhere the Equestrian trails are open to walking and trotting where reasonable. Please stay on marked trails. Further, the Myopia Hunt Club cannot assume responsibility for injuries, for theft or for the loss of property.
